Introducing Labs: Pushing the Boundaries of Claude's Capabilities
At Anthropic, we're witnessing a rapid evolution in our models, with each new release bringing significant advancements in capabilities. To harness these emerging abilities, we're adopting a unique approach: tinkering at the cutting edge of what Claude can achieve, testing early versions with users to refine and improve, and then scaling successful features into reliable products. This strategy has already borne fruit, as evidenced by the remarkable journey of Claude Code.
Claude Code, which began as a research preview, has transformed into a billion-dollar product in just six months (https://www.anthropic.com/news/anthropic-acquires-bun-as-claude-code-reaches-usd1b-milestone). The Model Context Protocol (MCP) has also become the industry standard for connecting AI to tools and data, with 100 million monthly downloads (https://www.anthropic.com/news/donating-the-model-context-protocol-and-establishing-of-the-agentic-ai-foundation). Additionally, we've launched Skills (https://claude.com/blog/skills), Claude in Chrome (https://www.claude.com/blog/claude-for-chrome), and Cowork (https://claude.com/blog/cowork-research-preview), bringing Claude's agentic capabilities to the desktop.
Today, we're expanding this approach with the introduction of Labs, a dedicated team focused on incubating experimental products at the forefront of Claude's capabilities. Mike Krieger, the co-founder of Instagram and former Chief Product Officer at Anthropic, is joining Labs to collaborate with Ben Mann. Ami Vora, who joined Anthropic in late 2025, will lead the Product organization, working closely with Rahul Patil, our CTO, to scale Claude experiences that millions of users rely on daily.
"The rapid pace of AI advancement demands a different approach to development, organization, and focus," said Daniela Amodei, President of Anthropic. "Labs provides us with the flexibility to break free from conventional norms and explore new possibilities. We now have the ideal structure to support critical product development initiatives, including the discovery of experimental products at the cutting edge of Claude's capabilities and their responsible scaling to meet the needs of our enterprise customers and growing user base."
We're seeking talented individuals with a proven track record in creating products that people love and shaping emerging technology with care. If you're eager to join us at the very frontier of AI capabilities, we'd love to hear from you (https://www.anthropic.com/careers).
